Nature shows us how little we know
As we continue to work against it.
Resulting in us suffering far more
Without any chance to prepare.
It’s why we were in this horrendous situation
Of disruption and unbelievable cost.
One never before experienced by so many.
We continue to show we just don’t care.
Our desire to consider nature in isolation.
And not as a whole with all its complexity
Puts us into the unknown.
With impacts so incalculable.
With economic interconnectedness
And dependence intended to bind us,
Makes us much more vulnerable.
With greater impact to all.
We must work better with nature
Towards a life we would all like to have.
Never again to be deceived by a few
To be able to enjoy life to the full.
Such disruption may not be all bad.
As we should appreciate more of what we have.
To look after ourselves that little bit more,
And not be at everyone's beck and call.
We should appreciate what our great land provides,
Along with the agricultural benefits this delivers us.
By working with the environment
We might all enjoy some of the benefits.
